Introducing an intoxicating balance of high-octane rhythms and euphoric production – Child of SP fuses genres with relevance and fluidity, for the boldly thought-provoking single Halo.
Essentially intertwining a long-form contemporary RnB vocal with a relentless house rhythm but a clear twist of originality – in the skipped-pace and the downpour of synths and fragments – the precision and detail of Halo raises the mood distinctly for its use of contrast and its passionate devotion to the moment.
The leading voice is impressive but well-mixed so as to feel like simply another part of the process. Then we get the rap verse during the latter half, weaving dynamic into the mix but also shining light on a different perspective as to the topic of Halo.
Child of SP’s intention with this track was to explore the widespread hypocrisy shared by us all – these halos we present with, these innocent and honest images of ourselves, that almost always fall away behind closed doors. The image of ourselves that we like to showcase vary rarely meets with who we truly are, and the intense euphoria and confrontation of Halo explores that truth with both energy and contemplation.
Hard-hitting yet ethereal in its dreamy embrace, the mix maintains a certain RnB-meets-EDM softness that could easily engage in any number of club settings. At the same time though, there’s a story and sentiment to the vocal outpouring, and that sense of purpose and shared humanity gifts the sound a whole new identity.
