BWH Music Group - Keepin’ It Country, Volume One - Stereo Stickman

BWH Music Group Keepin’ It Country, Volume One

-

Featuring 17 tracks that span the emotional spectrum of country music, this collection kicks off with One of Them Nights by Wyatt Hull. It features a slightly fractured and tremulous lead vocal in the vein of Roy Orbison. You can easily imagine Wyatt, eyes shut, giving a full-on performance in front of the mic: squeezing out his vocal yelps and falsetto phrasing with full body contortions, while two female backing vocalists deliver warm supporting parts in an adjacent vocal booth.

There’s a fierce guitar arrangement that leaps out of the acoustics, slide guitar, organ and drum kit backdrop about three-quarters of the way through this song, which underlines how full-on country can get! It provides a level of drama to compete with the vocal delivery!

Next up is the Buddy-Holly-like Frank Migliorelli & The Dirt Nappers performing the rockabilly-esque Every Bartender In This Town Knows My Name. And it has to be said that every country collection ever should have a song with a title like this!

Burn It To The Ground by Sohayla Smith benefits from vocal arrangements not a million miles away from The Staves. I Don’t Wanna Talk Right Now by Hunter and the Wick’d is a straight-ahead ballad with a careworn lead vocal.

Skipping ahead to Bad Love Pain by RW Roldan, we discover a song which could have been a bonus track on a Travelling Wilburys album, complete with a characterful lead vocal, tremolo guitar syncopated with violin and an easy-to-pick-up tune.

And that’s the tip of the iceberg here – the whole is a regular smorgasbord of country talent that forms some of the roster of BWH Music Group. Wyatt Hull, Angelica Cassidy, Harrison Country, Sohayla Smith, Bryan Joon, Richard Lynch, Todd Barrow, R.W. “Ray William” Roldan, Bill Abernathy, Steve Bonham and The Long Road, Frank Milgiorelli and The Dirt Nappers, Almost An Artist, Chakra Bleu, Hunter and the Wick’d Social Justice, Billy Ray Deiz, Kate Magdalena and Natalie Jean all make an appearance and help make this a blissfully eclectic collection.

It’s a veritable cornucopia of tunes that all have a different flavour to offer. Dive on in!
