Swedish composer and musician Brebu commands the stillness and calm, with the beautifully delicate and purposeful tones of his instrumental work Carved Waves.
Featuring a fairly unique build-up of strings, piano, synths and subtle rhythms, Carved Waves is refreshingly minimalist as it rolls along – not intrusive and heavy as many classical or cinematic compositions tend to be.
There’s a softness to each new section, including this organic choir of voices; the likes of which feels authentically captured in a church setting. I know that producers can find these threads anywhere now, but there’s still something very likable and beautiful about the humility and heartfelt warmth of this extensive but intentional and ambient original track. Brebu lets the body calm and the mind wander, and the results are powerful.
