Bowler Bear - Broadway - Stereo Stickman

Bowler Bear Broadway

-

More than meeting the color and optimism implied by its title and artwork, Bowler Bear’s Broadway proves a uniquely organic, engaging and uplifting instrumental, which effectively weaves its addictive progression and rising energy around listeners in a memorable way.

From simple, minimalist beginnings, the track leads with a mere piano part that quickly draws comparisons to the live scene or Broadway-esque realm of entertainment. Slowly but surely the layers begin to multiply and compound, welcoming in a plethora of synths and a notably infectious beat, before exploding into a fresh section every few bars just to keep things interesting.

During the latter half we’re even welcomed by a notably raw, indie-rock-inspired guitar solo, which is refreshing in its freely meandering, uninhibited nature.

Following a short break from the fullness found elsewhere, the familiar piano-progression soon returns in full force, and this appears intermittently with a few electronically sourced dance moments and some contrastingly retro, gamer-like instances of further creative freedom.

The whole thing speaks volumes on behalf of artistic identity and passion for the process alike. A brilliantly entertaining and impressively recognizable piece of music. I look forward to exploring the rest of the Bowler Bear catalogue.
