Featuring a powerfully intimate and upfront vocal line, Bogdan’s Ease introduces a deeply thoughtful, honest and passionate artist and performer – the minimalist, contemporary arrangment of the track allows these qualities to really reach out.
While there’s a fairly raw finish to the track, a somewhat vintage guitar sound and a boldly mixed vocal, these qualities seem to reinforce the genuine, home-made reality of the song. It feels like a live performance in many ways, not a singer hiding behind effects or multiple layers of synths – far from it. Follow the guitar pattern as it hypnotises, notice the subtle progression of the beat, a little hip hop-like or emo-rap inspired, and listen to the words, the emotional tone of the voice.
The whole thing is incredibly expressive, directly addressing a significant other, and leaving the audience with a sense of private insight and openness. The voice is great, mixed loudly but strong and unique enough to carry that weight of concept and melody. Hopefully there’s plenty more music to come.
