Boldly exploring concept and sound in one fascinating outward leap, LA’s Bloomfield Machine deliver a mighty single from their upcoming album Units Of Uncertainty, and it more than meets the implications of its title.
Somewhat disjointed melodically but beautifully confident and relevant in being so, MicroAgression rather thoughtfully blends delicacy and intensity to a supremely hypnotic degree.
From ambient, cinematic and softly industrial beginnings, through an explosive progression of distortion and weight, towards an ultimately melodic, somewhat psychedelic arena of bends and moments, MicroAgression proves both contemplative and fierce by nature.
Though barely scraping past the two-minute mark, the track connects for its epic and unavoidable degree of purpose and artistry. Considering it as an introduction to Bloomfield Machine, there’s a lingering sense of intrigue at the very least – and at best, a defiant level of addiction to the sheer escapism and distraction of the arrangement.
