Heartfelt piano-led arrangements and passionate vocals guide us through a contemporary collection of tracks – ASchurtz captures a sense of enchantment and vibe, with the likes of Red Lights.
Inspired by music in all of its forms, from Beethoven to Hip Hop and Country, ASchurtz showcases a clear appreciation for melody and passion above anything simply stylistic, and this cover of Red Lights acts as a modern pop-rap anthem that speaks boldly and beautifully on behalf of that.
This Nate Good dedication was ASchurtz’ first venture into singing and rapping, and the easy piano arrangement and light rhythms back up that dynamic well.
Also worth hearing and of a similarly easy-going production style, The Distance Between follows another familiar piano pattern and laid-back trap beat, a heavy bass-line and female vocals lightly injecting a hook intermittently throughout the set-up.
It’s an ambient and enjoyable listen, not overcomplicated, but in keeping with the kind of instrumental vibe that backs up a short commute or a work project.
Then there’s the 2025 EP, from which we get distinctly more uplifting and energised tracks like Vision. Here the production feels sharper, nostalgic Gospel vocals fragmented and toyed with, the piano still rising and falling but the tone brighter and more intrusive. The track evolves to become its own atmospheric ode to imaginative creativity, and marks another relevant example of the ASchurtz production style.
Finally, from 2024, Her Eyes marked a fine introduction to ASchurtz, for those new to his music. The track is fairly classic in terms of its creative building blocks and the musician’s catalogue at large, but also in its lo-fi study-vibe and the contrasting but subtle grit of the beat. Melody and intensity softly intertwine, throughout a distinct progression that ebbs and flows with focus and fluidity.
