Bizza Caviar recently released his EP Hors D’oeuvrea collection of unique and eclectic hip hop tracks showcasing an extensive sense of originality and creative freedom. We caught up with the rapper and songwriter to find out more about the music. Here’s how it went.

Hey, thank you for your time with this – and congrats on the EP, Hors D’oeuvre is a stand out collection.

Thank you for the time and review, appreciate it much.

Your music is totally eclectic from one track to the next – how do you get started when making new tracks, what’s the songwriting process like for you?

I sit down and game plan with my team at Caviar Industries, me and executive producer Jayswade – we take different ideas from how the beat talks to us or from movies or just imagination.

Who or what first inspired you to start making music?

My mom and pops playing old great music. My rap group NSK greena spitta.

You seem to fuse a lot of the light-hearted with a little of the dark or comfortable – do you allow yourself complete freedom when writing bars, and do you decide upon a concept beforehand or just press play and get started to see what comes through?

Freedom with discipline. Me and Swade, we build on concepts and flows that can be perceived as reality – we always search for individuality in each track, once we get clarity on what is the main topic then the lyrics just come naturally.

How important is live music right now, and will you be performing live much over the coming months?

It’s very important. Showmanship never gets old or outdated. Yes, I will be performing Feb 16th in LA at the Lexington and march 8th in Phoenix AZ at the Rhythm Room.

What can audiences expect from a live show?

Energy, crowd motivation, sonic sounds and free Caviar Industries t shirts lol.

What are your thoughts on mainstream hip hop at the moment?

I think it’s a struggle, the fundamentals are lacking – not enough diversity in mainstream. When certain regions have to sound like a relevant region to be accepted is when you know things are off.

Does Hors D’oeuvre refer to this being just a starter dish – is there a longer project in the works?

Yeah that’s just exactly what it is – an appetizer snack for the big meal LP (not the title of the LP) – coming some time this year, most likely Spring or Summer.

Is there anything else you’d like to say?

I would like to say thanks to my fans who support me now and in the future, and that me and Jayswade are working on Caviar gear and the website to be launched very soon.
