The Down To Earth Spirituality Podcast is one that directly addresses and involves the listener in a welcoming and comforting fashion. It deals with the very topics implied by the title and indeed by the name of each individual episode – these are subtle but effective self-help segments that can make all the difference if you let them in. The host delivers in a calm and subsequently calming manner, as well as offering a genuine approach -complete with personal experiences and a mild display of vulnerability, which helps intensely with moving the discussion away from preachy and over to understanding – and very easy to connect with.
A recent episode entitled You Are Enough makes for a wonderful place to begin if you’re new to the show. The host’s spoken word style represents an inner sense of peace in an authentic way, seeming almost ASMR-like in how the audio is so delicately presented. Within the show, the idea to consider is that of loving yourself before attempting to love others. It’s about accepting yourself and each other, for whoever you or they may be, and with this come personal anecdotes and details that help give the whole thing a level of realness – and give the host a likable and honest demeanor that’s fit to keep you listening; and returning for further episodes.
Where the majority of indie podcasts veer off in directions that aren’t necessarily relevant to the host’s expertise, in this case you can hear and indeed read about how involved in these practices and these positive thought processes the show’s presenter really is, which makes such a big difference as you listen through. The episodes aren’t particularly long, instead they offer a few minutes of calm whenever your day gets a little too noisy. Important values are offered up throughout. Absolutely worth a listen. You are the captain of your own ship.
