Featuring lightly distorted guitars and bass that rise and fall in seductive waves, a wanderer ascends follows a live mellow drum-line through a sleepy verse, with personal, poetic lyrics offering a kind of mystique and complexity that’s provocative, as we roll towards a bold and impassioned chorus.
The guitar riff and bass are quick to capture attention here, the rise and fall intoxicating, the melody catchy even before the vocal falls in. Then there’s the vocal itself, mildly effected or warped, almost whispered grunge-style expressions, with a clear pause for breath before the higher-intensity moment sweeps through.
