Featuring a classic, recognisable keys riff at the forefront, Carpe Diem utilises an old-school house groove and that essential hook-like quality to introduce a colourful and timeless new track. As things roll along, the piece welcomes choir-like church vocals in the outer layers, another piano part acting as a quieter verse of sorts, and some scattered synth hits with a much quicker velocity running alongside.
We also get string-like waves that fill up any gaps in the mix, and the result is something evocative, expressive and near neo-classical on occasion, but always with the ethereal comfort and calm implied by this sunset artwork and the renowned implications of Carpe Diem. The idea is to embrace the moment, make the most of the present time, and live well in the now. The music accompanies that concept quite beautifully.
