Cross-cultural jazz-fusion with a lush piano pattern at the forefront – TC.KYLIE blends influence from Japanese acid jazz and retro-gamer tones, for the colourful instrumental piece Rebirth.
What first appealed about this track was the playful optimism leaning towards uncertainty then brightness again, purely from the solo piano introduction. Then as things progress, the beat drops in with all the more playful rhythmic bounce to it, and the track suddenly peaks amidst this euphoric, folk-festival crescendo of melody and groove.
Rebirth is easily one of the most original, exciting and distinct instrumental compositions to emerge this year, and TC.KYLIE’s use of structure, contrast, melody, changing keys, and energy, makes for a perfect chemistry at the helm – a joyous to impassioned celebration, which showcases a clear talent and precision combined.
The music is a pleasure to let fill the room, and a live band or orchestral performance would be incredible to witness.
