Arhkota Plastic Saints

-

The intriguing creativity of LA drummer and composer Arhkota captures a new sense of direction and provocative thought this month, as the electronic rock alternative moves through the industrial rhythms and dreamy contemplations of Plastic Saints.

Somewhat eerily intertwining references to prayer and puppets, with hard-hitting fragments and tones, and breathy vocals, Plastic Saints blends the metaphorical and the poignant, as well as moving from a sort of post-punk vocal adlib to something a little more melancholic, even dissonant.

We end up briefly amidst something perhaps inspired by the alt-rock waves made by Nine Inch Nails or even Incubus. The comparisons end there, however, and Arhkota continues to branch out artistically, letting this ocean of movement present an hypnotic balance between optimism and uncertainty.

With previous works, the sort found throughout the EP Silent Killer, these breathy vocals and playful rhythms were all part of the style, as well as these confronting, beautiful but unexpectedly deep reflections. The sound was smoother though, gentler maybe, less intrusive. This time around, Arhkota achieves a kind of circus-like chaos in rhythmically exploring this topic, and it leaves you both enchanted and unsettled as the music rolls along.

Single Out October 3rd. Mastered by Josiah Mazzaschi. Find Arhkota on Instagram, Soundcloud, Facebook & the Website.
