Forged In Shadow (Bound by Fire) is the boldly cinematic heavy metal introduction, an electrified and poetic hard-rock arrangement and delivery, built around the iconic Lord of the Rings story, and showcasing both the intricate craftwork and essential contrast of composer and performer Mythrend through its cascading layers.
Intensity is key but not overly so, and far from an isolated trait. Forged In Shadow (Bound By Fire) features a chaotic yet colourful soundscape, progressing through a rightfully epic three minutes and 42 seconds of music, with skilful guitars, distortion, dramatic rhythmic hits, gritty vocals, synths and electronic neo-classical aspects, all united amidst a versatile and ever-evolving sense of story and rising anticipation.
It’s a powerful and impressive listen, the peak moments raining down with circus-like energy and ethereal darkness, countering the depth and weight of the guitar distortion beautifully, and almost everything falls away for the mere power-chord and vocal segments that lead us confidently into each new burst of expression.
The first full album will emerge November 7th, but in the meantime, the concise and structurally phenomenal mix of Forged in Shadow (Bound By Fire) makes for an addictively rhythmic, catchy, theatrical and mighty introduction to the format.
