J.R. MANGA Head High

-

Music that consumes you, atmospheric production of a cinematic and powerful depth, followed by a smoothly united series of modern vocals – an RnB progression and gritty, revealing lyrics. J.R.MANGA pours heart, soul and integrity into the process, with the unique musical vastness and personal vulnerability of Head High.

Welcoming almost a minute of dramatic composition to introduce things, Head High leads with a fearless appreciation for the value of music as escapism, before diving into something more performative and personal.

Featured artist and lyricist Jyroux’ voice is exquisite, distinct and emotively genuine, his flow unrivalled throughout the changing stages of this rap and melody. Before that quality takes hold though, the music itself presents a film-like sense of weight and complexity – an intricate web of details and tones, which aptly connect to the story and delivery that follows; as well as providing a huge dose of immersive audio presence that’s enveloping.

On top of the independent identity and character of the style, Head High is incredibly well-written. Smart and sharp lyrics follow a structure both meandering and concise, with a hook that’s emotional but satisfying, and easily memorable. That balancing of traits is impressive, to say the least, and the song leaves an overwhelming wall of silence when it comes to an end – the sort that naturally pushes you towards replaying the music, for the sheer comfort of its carefully crafted audio experience.

A multi-layered orchestral, neo-classical RnB and rap amalgamation of art. J.R. MANGA’s Head High is quite phenomenal amidst the current indie realm.
