I am all right; northern black wattle Acland, Tarandi

-

Organic guitar music, naturally recorded, captured to present both skill and emotional conviction as things roll along. I am all right; northern black wattle introduces a beautifully humble yet immersive instrumental composer, building from simple guitar prowess through layers of arena-ready keys, bass, and rhythms.

It’s an intoxicating listen, just short of four minutes in full, and feeling wholly cinematic at its energetic and uplifting peak. We progress from intimate Americana twangs and fingerstyle electric guitar, to the full-blown embrace of a pop-rock soundscape – complete with its own unique piano melody for that essential sense of character that’s distinct and recognisable.

Self-penned as a tribute to the artist’s family, this track paves the way well for a series of original compositions that reside under the title of I am all right; northern black wattle.

Acland, Tarandi is the second single, an ode to man’s best friend, the artist’s own huskie, this time blending the guitar and stomp box movements with crisp strings and warm bass, for a sound that fits the mold but also branches out into its own sense of purity and story.

The representation of the sheer joy and servitude of these animals we barely deserve rings loud, and at just one minute and fifteen seconds, this track quite perfectly encapsulates the brief but incomparable connections we share with our four-legged friends.

Finally, Edinburgh Rock paints something of a more solitary and thoughtful picture. The guitar meanders in a tired and unpredictable fashion at first, later gathering a groove; alongside a subtle flugelhorn. It’s a modest but likable and immersive pairing, which works beautifully as the rhythm and warmth of the track slowly build towards hypnotic looping.

Here the mind wanders, the personal touches are clearly unique to the composer, but the music in turn allows the listener their own unique journey down memory lane.

Nostalgic ambiances, creative and uninhibited by lyrics or unnecessary flair or filler. This music is an easy pleasure to let fill the space around you, and the comforting rewards appear limitless on doing so.
