Amsterdam creative producer ShenniX captures an intoxicating balance between the looping intensity of techno and the artistic freedom of unlimited sound-play, with his latest unignorable release Let The Music Take You.
About as aptly-titled as can be, Let The Music Take You actually more than delivers on the promise implied by its title. There’s a brilliant degree of originality to the mix, carefully intertwining these nostalgic nineties fragments and beats with something a little more contemporary and unexpected. As such, it’s a wholly immersive, quickly addictive listen, and it works its magic best when you really let the volume peak and the weight of the world fall away.
Featuring a snappy hook repeat not commonly found in modern techno, the blending of EDM appeal and underground alternative energy is sublime here, carving out an independent space that would shine well in either the mainstream or the side-lines of an unrelenting industry. The progression is likable, the build engaging, the drop euphoric and instantly smile-inducing. ShenniX gets the chemistry just right, and this proves true throughout an extensive and ever-expanding repertoire of originals and remixes.
ShenniX first dove into the electronic realm in 2020, initially with a fascination for House, Dance and even Hip Hop fusion. More recently the producer found that Tech House and Techno were where the music really started to embrace and engage his senses. Having said that, there are threads of recognisable creativity throughout the ShenniX catalogue, and that integrity is crucial in hitting the scene with lasting impact.
Let The Music Take You is a natural progression for the producer and artist, but it’s also a mighty and memorable introduction to his style, and hopefully a promise of bigger things to come. Turn this one up loud.
