Dennish Go Hit The Road

-

Family creative project Dennish leads with a distinct vocal frontline and organic, unplugged musicianship underneath. The songs present a clear sense of individual expression and heart, with the likes of Go Hit The Road weaving a uniquely story-telling and melodic realm that’s unmistakable as an introduction to the artist.

Built around acoustic guitars, humble keys and cinematic whistles, the music presents with a mildly cinematic aura, but proceeds to offer characterful vocals both delicate and distinct, as we explore the intricacies and depths of the song’s inspiration.

The musicianship is a key part of the Dennish sound, and as such, the track emerges with a karaoke instrumental version to accompany it – a welcomed moment of simple warmth and impressive playing, which actually proves just as distinct and likable as the completed track. The acoustic guitar mastery is engaging, and the set-up allows for various different leads and moments to effectively create dynamic and hold attention throughout.

Prior to the release of Go Hit The Road, 2024 saw Dennish release the single Itulah Sayang / Ibundaku Tercinta, with Datuk DJ Dave. Here listeners were presented with a fearlessly raw world-music set-up, the vintage crackle of an old vinyl delivering intriguing, before a stunning arrangement of breathy vocals, gentle yet fast-paced keys, and acoustic guitar picking, proceeded to enchant in a whole new way.

The melodic progression and musicianship of this song is sublime, and even with the language barrier, the two voices intertwine and connect amidst a soundscape that naturally transcends the limits of lyricism. The set-up is structurally divine, complex and compelling, and this again highlights the talent and passion brought to the scene by artist Dennish.

Prior to this year, Dennish established a unique take on alternative folk and pop, with the 2023 EP After The Clouds. Here the music maintained a simple and spacious approach, a little raw but ever honest, and those distinct and humble vocals held tight to the sense of identity and poetic contemplation that now resounds throughout the Dennish repertoire.
