Jean-Loup Pinson A Moment of Deathlessness (Emily Dickinson Tribute)

-

French-British composer Jean-Loup Pinson unites artistic mediums by way of an inspired look at historical written works.

The new EP, A Moment of Deathlessness, presents a first listen that’s captivating for its sense of cinema, its groove, its harmonies and imagery – the presentation and vibe intriguing alone for the creative depth and originality. Then to consider the poetry at its core, this whole project being a tribute to the iconic Emily Dickinson, is to appreciate the finely selected details and stories that influenced such a creative direction.

Wild Nights \ Desire is the opener, and instantly presents an alluring, mildly theatrical but deeply moving set-up and structure, with intimate spoken vocals, intriguing tribal rhythms, and a nostalgic choir of voices. The poem gathers stunning momentum throughout, The Carice Singers and Armanious helping bring to life the work of an artist who consistently finds relevance within each new artistic era.

Jean-Loup Pinson has crafted something quite phenomenal with this EP. On the one hand, these poems and the compositions that support them present a melodic and productional embrace that’s compelling, and quite rightfully released as a seasonal effort. On the other hand, the ability to ignite a whole new side of an already renowned set of poems, lets us all appreciate the inspiration we draw from one another when we let gratitude, freedom, and creativity truly take the wheel.

The spoken vocalists throughout, including Tanaka Fuego on track two, add the perfect tone and softness to this mildly intense but dreamy collection of original tracks. A Moment Of Deathlessness is beautiful, and whilst born from inspiration itself, presents that same level of creative inspiration to those who delve in.
