The perfect unity of guitar and voice, a blues-kissed poetic arrangement with a two-voice dynamic and changing rhythms – Casey Frazier masters the creative performance space, with the wonderfully captivating single Cradle to the Grave.
Initially nostalgic, later theatrically artistic for its descending, Gypsy-jazz groove and production, Cradle to the Grave resounds as an energised fusion of genres and traits. The song builds up from these raw beginnings, towards the full-throttle embrace of a live-band and impassioned, stage-ready set-up. All the while these lyrics connect for their storytelling and authenticity, and the voice strangely intertwines the mature and raspy with the more gentle and accessible.
It’s a boy-next-door kind of take on the traditional Blues and Americana sound, and it’s elevated by the boldly unique and consistently interesting arrangement of the song.
Casey Frazier is a songwriter well and truly worth knowing about this season and beyond. Check out the EP Regal for the full scope of his approach.
