Originality and the beating heart of electronic sound-design collaborate for compelling results – Kiwiani softens the mood and engages all at once, with close.
India-born and currently based in LA, Kiwiani presents an immersive, ethereal approach to production, which at first feels perfectly in tune with the abstract artistic implications of the accompanying image.
close is ultimately an industrial, rhythmic ode to heavy beats and fragmented production, but it also features intermittent hints of soulful vocal melody; playfully incorporated amidst a fitting and consistently distinct presentation.
Electronic music is essentially unlimited in terms of the sounds and possibilities that lie ahead. Exploration of that fact is less commonly found though, as the ‘known to be effective’ choices tend to simply get replicated in pursuit of success. Here though, is an artist and producer unafraid to go there – to take things down unique and intriguing pathways, whilst still maintaining a professionalism and appeal that lets the groove and imaginative escapism of the finished product feel welcoming and inclusive as its rolls along.
That balance works well, and I’m a fan – I look forward to hearing more from Kiwiani.
