Center Mass Time Irrelevant

-

Combining the talents of Arizona visual artist Todd Krasovetz and multi-instrumental composer Uros Borsic, Center Mass presents a uniquely artistic exploration of concept and sonic ambiance. The sound is both cinematically vast and intricately detailed, and forever blends genres with fearless conviction to the vibe of each project.

Their 2023 album Center Mass Universe laid down a complex and euphoric fusion of heavy metal, ambient melodic and atmospheric, ethereal dance music. It was a collection unconfined by style, driven by artistic thoughts and feelings, and as such introduced a creative act with a compelling sense of freedom at the wheel.

Their second project Portals was set to ignite the same impressive sense of escapism and absolute versatility, but in a whole new way – to which the recent single Andromeda Scar marks a bold and beautiful introduction. This composition features the gentle pairing of organic and intense instrumental layers, and a captivating fusion of softness and weight that consistently lures you in.

In example of the duo’s eclecticism, however, and introducing their limitless style on a defiant high, is the single Time Irrelevant. This carefully balanced, calm to intoxicating fusion of metal and world-music tendencies, provides an other-worldly experience that’s both visually and audibly immersive.

Coming in at over six minutes of exploration, Time Irrelevant sees its listeners plunged into a web of multiple layers of distorted guitars and classic eighties rhythms. At the same time, subtle waves of synth and electronic instrumentation meet with organic, acoustic ones, to craft something that’s both a looping realm of comfort, and a consistently evolving delivery of rising anticipation.

The track gathers momentum slowly but surely, utilising short riffs and timeless rhythms to build a sense of incoming drama and weight that naturally raises the pulse. It’s a motivational instrumental work, imaginative and striking, yet simple by the nature of its musicality.

As things grow, we feel uplifted on this sense of impending action and possibility, and then as things fall away – as the acoustic, unplugged quiet moments ensue – we feel momentarily soothed by the intimacy and the implied concept of the title.

Time Irrelevant is intriguing as a topic, and given the lyric-free arrangement, the audience essentially gets to delve into their own imaginative arena of contemplation – a journey no doubt unique to each individual. That quality is decidedly rare, and something that the diverse and expansive repertoire of Center Mass is consistently in search of achieving.

‘We aim to transcend boundaries through musical portals, traversing multiple dimensions and spaces where time ceases to exist.’ – Center Mass.
