Impressively creative, melodic and light – a project quite perfectly titled. Chill Guru Beats sets the mood with acoustic fingerstyle guitar and euphoric ambient design, for the five track EP Dreamscape EDM Project (Vol1).
Luna begins our journey, an instantly alluring guitar part soon met by the softly increasing energy of a delicate rhythm and dreamy overall arrangement. The vibe is key to this project, but so too is identity, or qualities of distinction – something that breathes new life into the scene through this opening track alone.
Things soon find their flow amidst the true pace and presence of EDM, as Nebula pairs a fresh guitar part with the true depth of the genre. Contrast is crucial, the dynamic between stripped-back moments and those that uplift and energise proving a central aspect of what gives this playlist such an intoxicating aura. Even here though, the dreamy implications of the title resound – a certain softness continuing to permit the music access to the emotional shadows of our being, elevating our feelings and our mood accordingly.
For Nimbus, we’re presented with a quicker and perhaps more stylish riff – retro bass and another unique rhythm soon accompanying the soulful and mildly rockier or funky edge of a work that still manages to encapsulate the essence of Dreamscape EDM. The word ‘unique’ is important – a strength found throughout each engaging but equally distinct track of the album. Chill Guru Beats leads with an approach that lasts, offering timeless and creatively fresh music that both enchants and entertains.
Horizon lifts the pace and energy further still, a longer-form chord progression seeming to brighten the space with a kind of retro optimism and nostalgic dance production. The music takes your there, the titles and their coinciding journeys aptly letting the body calm and the imagination roam freely.
Wrapping up Dreamscape EDM Project (Vol1) is a euphoric celebration, the classic traits from earlier all uniting amidst a contrast-laden acoustic to fully awakening downpour, Infinity utilising fragments of melodic voice and a plethora of artistic rhythmic and unplugged hits. The playing is addictive, fast paced but ethereal music surrounding the listener, concluding the EP in a bright and beautiful fashion, and leaving a lasting sense of intrigue and anticipation for the promise of Vol2.
