Tropical vibes attract and enchant, as Carmolina and LJ deliver an instantly catchy groove, for the smooth and intoxicating Afro Salsa single Adrenalina Y EI Camillero.
Fusing afrobeat rhythms and uplifting melodies from horns, synths and keys, the single emerges as the bright-eyed result of two artists united by their own cultural richness in both travel and musicality.
LJ was born in Rwanda, he spent several years in Zimbabwe and Namibia, and ultimately moved over to Brazil. He met established and internationally touring artist Carmolina in Costa Rica, where the two bonded over their affinity for afro fusion music and expressive vocal play, and in the process wrote and recorded the infectious anthem Adrenalina Y EI Camillero.
Speaking out against the love scammers or womanizers, known in Spanish as ‘Mujeriego’, the song feels like a romantic ode to both intimacy and the escapism of dancing, but also leads with an engaging dynamic between the two artists – and indeed a clear sense of story and purpose underneath.
Key lines like ‘Let me be your Superman, you be my Angelina’ feel rightfully set up to hit the mainstream as an earworm that naturally fits the inescapable bounce and groove of the production.
Somewhat genre-free but essentially elevated by its clear world music tones and that Afro fusion pulse at the heart of it, this release continues to make waves online, and holds plenty of potential for remix as both a stripped-back ode to honesty in love and a simple floor-filler for the masses.
