Almost nostalgically Disco-like in songwriting, What She Wants evolves by means of short lines and simple riffs, towards the ultimate uplift and seductive embrace of its revealing hook.
Meanwhile, the accompanying visuals tell more of the story, weaving an increasingly sultry and captivating web, before the band suddenly throw in a brief yet satisfying guitar solo and subsequent breakdown to near silence prior to the final hook repeat.
Utilising contrast to a bold degree, and showcasing a band passionately committed to the moment, What She Wants stands out for its personality, presence, and subtly unexpected creative qualities.
The evolution works well, the final quarter proving immersive and energising in the way that any alternative anthem should be. Hopefully there’s more to come.
