Mellow and emotive musical vibes meet with a softly confident yet laid-back lyrical outpouring – Vitto Banks creates his own contemporary style with the melodic and catchy single The Goat.
Introducing a varied flow, vocally produced in tune with the current scene but musically weaving in a yesteryear vibe – even that of the rock and rap fusion era – ultimately promising a colourful groove that’s chilled yet uplifting in its style and swagger.
Smart bars kick things off in a refreshing way, and later all is resolved well with the hook – pop writing qualities intertwined with an alternative hip hop edge that helps give Vitto Banks a defiant sound of his own.
Also hitting the scene in recent months, and lighting up a completely different side to the Vitto Banks approach, Rock Wit You adopts a contrastingly dark, haunting and faster-paced mood – gritty vocals, a lower and cleaner-cut tone.
There’s more confidence, attitude and weight here, the music more intense and the vocal performance on par with that. The video too, darker and more late-night carefree.
Vitto’s versatility is clear, the bars are still impressive, longer form and more classic rap and hip hop than the former, inspired by the greats but indicative regardless of a clear sense of identity. Hopefully there’s plenty more to come.
