Stylishly hitting the scene with a strong fusion of classic hip hop and contemporary flavours, OverTimeBaby unites rap and RnB throughout this inspiring, anthem-loaded original project.
From the outset, Doing What I Gotta Do introduces the Humble N Hungry album and concept in a bold and engaging way. Great production brings together organic and electronic layers, and a versatile vocal leads us through the ups and downs of the story with an impressive pace and faultless rhythm.
Immediately there’s a sense of rightful confidence and intelligent expression to the whole thing, as well as a clearly likable musicality that begs for you to turn up the volume. And the collection goes on like this, sometimes veering off towards a more emotional route – In Motion an early example – but always holding close to this tone and delivery, the identity, that is OverTimeBaby’s performance and writing style.
Superb, boldly addictive in energy and style, honest and open, focused on strengths but unafraid to showcase weaknesses in the details – a perfectly titled project. Humble N Hungry leaves its mark with ease. Well worth a listen this year.
