Written in the early 2000’s, by Marvin Taylor and his wife Raven, Sid Hagan’s latest release Let’s Get Real brings together a handful of musicians to recreate the imagery and awareness of the track in a compelling way.
Featuring Marvin Taylor himself on ‘all guitars of any kind, bass, and drums’, Sid and Devon Sproule on vocals, and Paul Curreri on everything else, Let’s Get Real questions the listener and prompts a deeper level of consideration regarding those who sleep on the streets.
The homeless crisis is global, we see the struggle in every city and town – it’s sadly become commonplace over the years. The soul-rock swagger of this track lights up the room in a strange way, drawing you in with warmth and captivating melodies, and by this point the lyrics connect almost without you realising it.
Certain lines help really bring the realisation home, the appreciation of the little things that most of us take for granted. The very essence of the song is this very idea of Let’s Get Real – things are far from bad for most of us. Perhaps now more than ever is a great time to reconsider and recount our blessings.
Produced by Sid Hagan, Paul Curreri, and Marvin Taylor, Let’s Get Real is a soulfully seductive soft-rock track, organic and engaging, with a subtly infectious melody and concept that really linger after listening. Well worth a few spins this season.
