Infectious blues rock and roll pours through for this superb new single from alternatives Psychocide.
Leading with a surprisingly easy-going vocal tone and addictive, blues-pop-style melody, the song goes on to bring in a mighty organic set-up – complete with harmonica, guitar solos, distortion, and a striking use of contrast.
Offering up a clear sense of character about their sound, Psychocide are quick to impress with this release. The music itself creates a likeable mood that immediately provokes interest in a live show, and then there’s the song-writing – every lyric painting a new part of the picture, turning a page in the story, and presenting an all the more interesting progression.
From verse to hook, first half to latter, this near five-minute single makes fine use of the juxtaposition between weight and lightness, yet always keeps things relevant to its own intention and melody. The result is a stylish and subtle yet hooky track – a wholly immersive listen when played at volume. Brilliant musicianship. I look forward to catching a live show at some point.
