Young Picasso Where You Been, What You Seen

-

Hitting the scene with prolific songwriting and a plethora of ambient, creative tracks, Young Picasso has released hit after hit throughout 2020 so far, and rightfully shows no signs of slowing down.

The latest of his releases is the dreamlike and melodic single Where You Been, What You Seen, a track that adopts a Post Malone style vocal sound, alongside a multi-layered, alternative soundscape that effectively gives Young Picasso’s music a flavor all of its own.

Within this, we get some decidedly profound and thoughtful lyrics, balanced out alongside some more familiar references to keep things relevant to a broader audience. That fusion works well, and the switch between faster paced raps and melodic, calmer moments furthers this level of change and the seamless unity of genres.

Elsewhere in his catalogue, eclecticism and that creative edge shine all the more brightly. Tracks like MY Mental lead with a refreshing touch of acoustic guitar, and a deeply considerate lyrical backbone that proves all at once revealing and worthy of a lasting connection with listeners.

We also get some stylish, uplifting guitar work on In The Rain – a funk-kissed yet still ambient, reflective piece, which again showcases some fantastic long-form bars and a rap performance that captivates in its breathless yet intentional outpouring.

The more you hear of his music, the more his willingness to be fully authentic stands tall, and the more immersive and addictive the whole collection becomes. Impressive – great music to escape into.
