Jacsin Dear Best Friend (Feat. Robbie Dean)

-

Jacsin and Robbie Dean join forces for this powerful and quickly immersive new single Dear Best Friend.

Emerging with a notably Joji-inspired sense of melancholic progression and emotive, long-form melodic development, the song captivates for its fine balance between familiar and fresh. This rising, finger-picked riff feels classically influenced, comforting in its recognisability, yet with that there’s a retro electronic warmth, and a leading voice that’s notably more RnB-kissed than anything purely pop or soft rock.

At the same time as the set-up providing an immediately compelling soundscape, the lyrics pour through with a certain endearing vulnerability – the very concept of the song is something not commonly touched upon in music. Relationship songs tend to take the romantic route, or celebrate a family member. This approach is refreshing, beautifully honest, and deeply human in an accessible and memorable way.

There’s a hypnotic quality to the arrangement, the song alone could be performed in a solo setting and could hold attention with ease, but the completed recording makes for something like a trip hop, alternative hit of escapism that effectively softens the weight of the world. Headphones on, volume up – the whole thing works its magic with intimacy and realness in an upfront, fairly addictive manner. Easily a track likely to make waves over the coming weeks.

Out January 17th. Download or stream the single here. Find & follow Jacsin on Facebook & Instagram.
