Lil Dream collaborates with an array of producers and artists on this latest EP, driving with an immediately colourful musicality, and a clear sense of good vibes and rhythm.

Freestyle introduces things and the music is decidedly likable. While the vocal auto-tune effect has grown tiresome, and the delivery feels like it could have been taken from any number of recent releases, the verses make sure to add a little character and contrast, and the brightness of the beat in general kind of overpowers the familiar traits.

There are gentle riffs and synths scattered around the outer edges that take your focus for the most part. Elsewhere it’s melodic peaks that draw your attention – striking rises, such as those that refer to the artist being cold hearted, add a certain shock factor and a level of passion that’s easier to connect with. Towards the end you can also hear the organic piano at work, which again brings through an enjoyable element of realness.

The EP continues to explore this, you only wish there were a few more organic moments – Lil Dream has plenty to say, but it’s often lost amidst so much that is simple and familiar. Musically though, this playlist is refreshing, featuring hints of jazz and an eclectic array of beats that work well to keep things flowing.
