Bursting through with an organic and crisp rhythm reminiscent of Save Tonight, it’s impossible to knock the production quality of this release – the sound is pure and beautifully impactful from the offset. The way the acoustic guitar leads into the beat, bringing through flickers of folk, country and hip hop alike, makes it east to get into the vibe of the track; and to appreciate the creative way in which WAYAL has approached and crafted this release.
Love Comes N Goes is a song that fuses genres in a refreshing way, balancing artistry with what the writer knows will work melodically and rhythmically. The vocal stands tall within the mix, driving through with that alternative, RnB meets Americana vibe, and though the hook has a certain familiarity and simplicity to it, the verses and sections that follow help greatly in building on that initial creativity and appeal. The hook later returns to offer a comforting resolve, a recognisable moment that lets the song lean in a mildly anthem-like direction.
All of this works greatly in WAYAL’s favour right now, particularly with the recent rise of songs like Old Town Road – genre no longer confines an artist, but merely offers a single idea that can freely meander amidst any number of others. It’s no wonder Love Comes N Goes has already amassed 15,000 streams over on Spotify. I look forward to hearing where else the music takes WAYAL in the near future.
