Introducing a bold and captivating fusion of Turkish rhythms, melodies and influences, with a modern Western-pop twist of story and performance. Songwriter and artist Fahriye captures a clear sound of her own, with the hypnotic darkness and seduction of RESIST.
Currently based in Boston, MA, Fahriye is a California native with familial roots between Turkey and Germany. This unique heritage resounds throughout her latest single, with a heavy and dark looping bassline meeting tribal-style rhythms, and this alternative and fierce production later countered by haunting vocals that meander through extensive waves of melody; towards a world-music crescendo of a chorus that’s equally distinct.
From cultural and stylistic diversity to dreamy harmonies and a rightfully catchy resolve, RESIST introduces the fearless artistry of Fahriye in a way that intrigues and captures attention. Despite its unorthodox creativity, the structure of the song, the title and the final drop of the hook, all makes sure to incorporate the essential building blocks of memorable mainstream pop.
The alternative and the accessible meet with enchanting results, for RESIST.
