There is no way to begin, and absolutely no sane way to end. Sharon Van Etten is a talent that leaves us begging for more. An absolute pleasure to hear, see, and experience. Power ballad, pop rock, lyrical bliss, depth, angst, dance, devour, absolute artistry, raw, real, devoted and pure. In a nut shell; we’re completely in love with this sound.
Sharon Van Etten. Why this is not mainstream baffles us, but it’s something we are extremely grateful for; the underground maintains it’s glory and it’s gold, whereas the mainstream strangles itself until there is only a lonely voice left with nothing to say. This is an artist who has always told, and we hope continues to always tell, stories with meaning, and in such a raw and striking way that all else seems a little inferior for a while. Ever inspiring.
Her videos are as compelling as the sound alone. A perfect match, in fact. It wasn’t an easy choice, but we went for this one for the feature. Enjoy.
