The Hinterland - Biology - Stereo Stickman

The Hinterland Biology

-

The UK’s own indie rock three-piece The Hinterland showcase the breadth of their ability as both songwriters and an arena-ready organic band; with a mighty ear for evocative arrangements. Their brand new single Biology offers a melodically charming and finely produced indie anthem, which feels well rooted amidst the influence of some of the UK’s most unique bands.

Exploring the issue of desire and attraction in relation to our natural Biology, the single features a mellow but colourful arrangement of keys, guitars, live drums and breathy vocals, as we make our way through a long-form melodic development, towards a melancholic but musically optimistic hook.

Inspired by the likes of Crowded House and Fleetwood Mac, strength of songwriting and emotionally loaded performances are the beating heart of The Hinterland’s approach to music. The structure and set-up of Biology speaks volumes on behalf of that, presenting a genuinely original verse build up, towards a simple and bright resolve; a natural earworm that lingers long after the music has ended.

Biology appears to blend additional touches of familiarity with the likes of Muse and Radiohead, in my view, and cleverly intertwines the sadness of its story’s simplicity, with the lightness and warmth of its musicality. That quality is intriguing, quite refreshing right now, and introduces the band on a defiant high. A live show is a must this summer, should the opportunity arise.

Single out July 19th. Find The Hinterland on Facebook, Instagram & YouTube.
