Rising artist Taydence notes thousands of monthly listeners on Spotify alone. The recent release of his evocative and stylish EP With Or Without You secured his role within the indie space for modern trap, rap, RnB and alternative vibes, and offered a strength of songwriting in unison with the natural fluidity and confidence of his voice.
The project begins with its title-track, a piano-led RnB moment of calm and warmth – a hopeful bookend to this journey, and a vocally satisfying introduction to the genre fusing character and charm of Taydence. It’s a poetic ode, musically uplifting but romantic, lyrically blending personal anecdotes and metaphors to a smart and sharp degree, and with superb production lighting up the music as we roll along.
After this, Too Much Hits is an early highlight, an emotive and near-acoustic introduction, soon met by a more explosive groove and an earworm of a hook. The personality and varied flow of Taydence resounds, balancing the familiar and the unknown, for a creative original track that’s boldly memorable. Fast bars follow unexpectedly, another light shining from the creative corner of Taydence, and a story that gathers intense momentum throughout.

Other standout tracks from the new project include the instantly catchy and immersive Yes I Do. A memorable hook and dreamy production highlights the natural tone and nuance of Taydence’ voice, with the overall style noting hints of influence to both world music and modern trap.
Then there’s the more mellow and sultry mood and energy of Switch, rhythmically distinct but with certain organic musical elements and passionate vocal shifts to help elevate things in a classically Taydence fashion. It’s a stylish ode to the freedom of the genre, and again proves to be one of the EP’s most recognisable tracks.
Ring is another worth hearing, the acoustic fingerstyle backdrop and the relentless vocal outpouring adding a level of contrast and addictive energy that’s naturally compelling. The song begs for you to crank up the volume, and again breathes artistic freedom and playfulness into a contemplative, purposeful arena of songwriting.
The EP comes to a striking finish with the darker contemplations and lo-fi design of Draggin Alot. The bars are intense, the music too, the overall style raised up by the clear grit and idea development of Taydence as a storyteller and performer. It wraps things up well in terms of the underlying concept of With Or Without You, and provides a more chaotic original style, to further draw focus to the creativity and subtle boldness of the Taydence approach.
