Colorful indie-pop with a strong groove and organic warmth is quick to appeal – fellow Mancunians SPIN KLASS bring a touch of poetic wonder and inspiring self-kindness, for This Is Love.
Somewhat nostalgic in its big-band warmth and with an interesting meeting of eighties-like melodies and that classic UK indie vocal rasp and personality, SPIN KLASS stand tall on the strength of their musicianship and presence, but raise the bar further still with their impressive display of songwriting.
Songwriting often takes something of a backseat for many indie bands, the overall appeal being the live aspect, the self-indulgence and the freedom of playing. In this case, we get the best of both worlds – the sound is crisp, clean and melodically satisfying, while the subject matter and indeed the infectious build up to that anthemic chorus all brings a refreshing twist of optimism; and a subtle ear-worm that will no doubt linger after listening.
Humble yet exhilarating when streamed at volume – a beautiful single, from a likable band who will most probably be gracing some renowned stages in the coming months and years.
