While technology continues to advance, the beating heart of creativity that connects remains as the irreplaceable human touch. Throughout the ages, art born out of struggle and uncertainty has always been the most impactful, and that continues to be true – regardless of the tools utilised to create it.

Sonic Pulse Project is an eclectic realm of soundscapes and songs carved out of extreme personal difficulty. The album, The Painter’s Light, employs reflective lyrics and poetic musings, alongside modern AI tools, to consider and express the experiences of a life.

The project begins with the metaphorical depth and light folk-pop rhythm and vibe of Canvas and Bloom, and climbs further into this conceptual cavern across 11 original compositions.

Featuring short lines and snappy melodies, a rising groove that’s a pleasure to let ring out, the opening song of The Painter’s Light sets the bar with a beautiful balance of hopeful musicianship and heartbroken lyrics. That juxtaposition is key to embracing the listener in this sense of lostness and unity combined, and makes up a huge part of the melodies, movements, and themes of this album.

Next we move into the acoustic guitar intimacy of The Key, a raspy folk vocal lead and a longer-form melody, another ode to romantic longing and separation. The music rises once more, a powerful chorus making for the album’s first memorable peak, and building further on the sentiments and escapism of The Painter’s Light at large.

Other highlights from The Painter’s Light include the dreamy tones and images of Great Bear, and the devastation to optimistic evolution of My World Is Shattered. Crystal Clear also follows with something of a well-placed mellow energy and tempo, a jazz-pop alternative, with more of those assisted lyrical musings helping ‘paint’ these scenes and memories before us.

From a simple but striking perspective, Your Love’s My Lighthouse is an outstanding and timeless ballad, a song born out of the severe pain of losing a treasured girlfriend, and this is followed by the uplifting bounce and more traditional folk fluidity and self-awareness of Unfurling Harmony.

There’s also a welcomed comfort and connection that pours through for You’re Always There – an accessible moment, vague enough to be made your own, and harmonised in a classic, nostalgic fashion.

For the artist behind Sonic Pulse Project, music became a way of coping with intense emotions – its role within the life of the creative became that of resilience and overcoming. The songs that make up The Painter’s Light effectively capture that process and escapism, and in turn, gift the listener a similar sense of understanding and possibility united. The pain is undeniable, but the positivity resounds alongside it, and the message appears to be that there is undoubtedly a light at the end of the tunnel.
