A simple piano part, familiar and warm, with stunning vocals injecting a catch progression from folk-pop to big-ballad. Skittish deliver a seductively soulful performance and song, with the timelessly divine Mother Nature.
Initially likable for that groove and the satisfying partnership between the piano and vocal melodies, we soon evolve from something a little jazz-pop or Corinne Bailey Rae-like, to something much more impassioned and powerful, and that growth continues to elevate the song. We even get a keyboard solo, a lower-toned middle 8, and lyrics that increasingly unite the poetic and the personal.
Skittish impress and entertain, and Mother Nature marks a fine introduction to their 2025 EP Ugly Makes Pretty.
