The intensity rises thanks to evolving passion in the voice, changes in flow, and switches from simple drive and determination to references on a more laid-back love for the process and the good times.
There are also more than a few injections of word-play that add a certain quirky air of love for the writing and the very art of hip hop.
Block Boy is an anthem, simply put, it doesn’t lay bare too much of the artist’s personal truth or story, but it draws you in for its mood and intention, and those details tend to come later. It will be interesting to hear where else the music takes him.
