Retired songwriter, editor and communications specialist Richard Daigle breaks hearts with acoustic purity and the ever-relatable ache of loss.
I Still Say We is self-explanatory, in essence, but the simplicity of the acoustic picking and voice arrangement, and the contrasting depth and complexity of these scenes and images we’re presented with, all makes for a captivating and lovely to painful listen.
Reflecting on becoming half a person after losing the love of your life, after perhaps a lifetime spent together, I Still Say We is both beautiful and devastating. The intimacy is balanced with relatable phrases, and we’re walked through the days and literal imagery, alongside the metaphors, in a way that compels us to tune in closely, and to quickly feel gratitude for those we do still get to love and see every day.
If you’ve lost someone, a partner in particular, this one will hurt, but is almost certainly still worth the listen. The raw humanity and heart of I Still Say We is cordially genuine.
