Projext - Dreams - Stereo Stickman

Projext Dreams

Leading with superb production and strong songwriting right the way through, Projext’s single Dreams introduces an artist who ticks a whole lot of boxes in the pop world.

Arrangement-wise the track progresses well, evolving from gentle beginnings to a bright an uplifting, EDM-ready outburst later on. For the most part, this original version maintains a certain lightness and optimism – there’s definitely potentially for remix though.

Then we get the voice, and while the melody effectively blends a little of pop and RnB, with the occasional longer-form moment that feels mildly inspired by hip hop, the voice itself seems to have the tone and depth of a punk-pop or rock band front-man. There’s a subtle rasp to the delivery, a certain grit that stands out amidst the smoothness of the soundscape. It works well, and all of these qualities at once help really give the song impact.

The hook in particular, the unity of voices for the whoa’s that invite participation and call out for you to witness them in a live setting – this is a well-earned moment that makes certain you’ll recognise the track later on.
