Original music from NYTHM blends catchy pop songwriting with dreamy production, warm tones, and heartfelt sentiments. Synthetic Tears is the latest album, and is part of an upcoming collection of over 23 albums and 30 singles set to release in the next five years.
Beginning with Echoes of You Pt.1, we’re introduced to a personal and poetic realm of contemplation – a nostalgic four-chord pattern of pop rhythms and keys, and a gentle programmed voice that lightly guides us through the romantic longing of the song.
Piano-led optimism and emotion continues to light up the project, this female vocal lead a clear thread between songs and images of city landscapes and romantic ideals.
Whispers In Neon, Pt. 1 reflects on precisely the design and writing features implied by its title, only here we get a rising sense of passion and energy, building towards a huge crescendo of a chorus, and an early pop highlight from the album.

Twelve tracks make up the aptly-titled album Synthetic Tears, with the various parts one and two adding a sense of continuity between moments. Glass Halo, Pt 1 has great production and short, snappy lines, rising towards a dance-pop melancholy that’s immersive and subtle but strong as a go-to source of escapism. No Exit Pt. 1 is similarly passionate and poetically vague enough to carry on that sense of ethereal storytelling, showing influence from the pop power-ballads that often stand the test of time. A clear favourite.
Other highlights from Synthetic Tears include the decidedly stripped-back Tell Me I’m Wrong, Pt. 1, and the subsequent movie-style emotion and intimacy to power of Neon Mirage, Pt. 1. Always the synthetic and human qualities attempt to walk in harmony through the mix.
And for the second half of the album, the Pt. 2 accompaniments for each of these songs proceeds to meander between near-acoustic pop calm and full-production drama and energy. Whispers in Neon Pt.2 is particularly impactful, and by now these other-worldly references, images and apparent metaphors feel almost like home within the Synthetic Tears realm of musicality and theme.
Catchy melodies and poignant imagery act as deliberate connections between songs, holding up the NYTHM approach to modern writing and production, and delivering an album that’s somewhat dark yet enticing as a modern electronic pop collection. We even get modest twists of hip hop amidst the likes of No Exit Pt. 2, and always the structure of each song feels playful, even theatrical – that Disney-esque sense of character and exploration resounding along the way.
