Eclectic rock production and lighter, boldly distinct vocals lay down a poetic exploration of connection in times of great destruction. Margarita collaborates with a handful of talented musicians, for the uniquely cinematic and intense escapism of Empty Spaces.
Featuring a fully visualised composition, fusing neo-classical and heavy metal tendencies and tones, Empty Spaces first relays a sense of serenity and quiet, before proceeding to contemplate and reflect upon the collapse of the world, the end of times; on running towards the starry unknown.
Woven in amidst this is a clear romantic longing and intention, the story ultimately ringing out as one of two souls and fates intertwined on this journey, and that balance or juxtaposition of hope and desolation rings loudly in both the lyrics and the powerful contrast of the music.
“A doorway to the great beyond, two ends meet, become as one. Gentle rain pouring down, everyone is safe and sound.”

Star-crossed lovers recapture their truth in a post-apocalyptic world. Empty Spaces celebrates Margarita’s fascination with fantasy and folklore, whilst delivering an original story and song that proves fearlessly artistic. The song releases in unison with the Japanese festival of the stars, Tanabata.
Empty Spaces features Margarita alongside Takayoshi Hirano and Masayoshi Imaizumi – members of Himajin, the early backing band for the great Japanese musical duo Chage & Asuka. Direction and supervision was handled by Yasuji Ota – the general producer of the Japanese singer-songwriter Akari Hinata.
Margarita, Yasuji Ota, Masayoshi Imaizumi and Takayoshi Hirano built the song together from the ground up, with Margarita providing the initial ideas, outline, vocals and art, and Yasuji Ota then delivering coordination, liaising, production and organisation – uniting talents in a seamless fashion, for a wholly equal creative collaboration on the final work.
