When organic music is made with such a fine balance of heart and precision, it can be fascinating to hear and indeed to watch. At the same time, there’s an added benefit to the simple performance visual, and it’s that you’re not distracted by anything – it feels like a moment of genuine calm; a live delivery that’s intimate and purely for the listener.
As such, Up & Down creates a genuine wave of serenity. The natural sights behind the guitarist, the mellow changes in shot, the subtle yet immersive use of reverb. The song feels much bigger than it ought to, but not so big that it loses that sense of delicacy and solo connection.
Absolutely beautiful, in short – melodically enchanting, played with skill and soulful devotion united. Ludwik Konopko refuses to disappoint, and with this release the prospect of a live show is powerfully alluring.
