Lounge Act Jam Sitting Back, Waiting For Nothing

-

Brilliantly capturing the essence of daily life right now for the vast majority, Lounge Act Jam fill the void with a mellow and melodic new song, which questions the very concept of the self.

From the mild groove of a programmed drum-line, through reverb-soaked chords, to a breathy doubled vocal that utilizes a select few deeply considerate ideas, the song makes strong use of simplicity to create a likeable, relevant, and enjoyable few minutes of escapism.

While the energy rises with the distant flicker of a guitar solo, and the sudden anticipation towards the end, nothing too heavy ever drops in – besides this looped line of sitting back, waiting for nothing. And still the song satisfies, it seems like the perfect anthem for our newly crowned daily loops – these patterns of behaviour we engage in, to pass the time, to fend off anxiety.

The whole thing has a genuine bedroom-studio quality, which allows it to connect all the more strongly. There’s a modest / humble aura to both the writing and the delivery, and for all of these reasons the song leaves its mark in a topically relevant, hypnotic fashion.

Well worth a few spins this quarantine.
