Retro nineties vibes warm the room through a vintage fade-in as Lil Shack presents a melodic and nostalgic I Got Ca$h.
Following the fade in, contemporary clarity lets the bass-led and guitar kissed groove hit with a little more impact. Then we get the Snoop-esque vocal melody and sense of character – a hook that gives the track a memorable quality.
Following the opening hook, that same voice offers a switch in pace with a rap verse and a little more detail. Then there’s the feature, the second vocal, adding a likable dynamic and a fresh flow – faster bars, complex framing of ideas and scene-setting to help elevate things all the more so.
And all of this resolves well with the hook every time – returning to familiarity, leaving the tune running through your mind.
Coming in at a fairly perfect three-minutes-one, I Got Ca$h showcases a more upfront vocal hook recording than expected, a little raw but again nostalgic in being so and relevant to the style of the music.
