Then we get this beautifully versatile and evocative voice, whispering gentle verses of poetry to us, with subtly passionate inflections presenting a clear degree of rising anticipation.
Aptly we roll towards a huge crescendo of a chorus – more poetry, more personal longing, an explosion of weight and power but with a satisfying melodic resolve; and a defiant level of motivational drive at its core.
Ultimately an anthem built to inspire and uplift, Pressure is both skilfully impressive and vastly immersive in offering the finely crafted escapism of timeless hard rock. The meeting of melody and intensity is superb, the title and hook bring things back to the mainstream, and elsewhere the alternative layers maintain a sense of identity that no doubt rings loud throughout Kelly Murphy’s catalogue to date.
