Pure rock bliss and absolute character pour through with Jozsef James’ new soulful and hard-hitting single.
Fusing a little of that spacious, organic rock from way back when, a simple funk back and forth on the guitar, a tribal rhythm, and a dash of something a little Lenny Kravitz-like, I Am Human is a quickly infectious indie track, offering a memorable, poetic yet fun and passionate undertone that’s easy to relate to.
As an introduction to the artist, there’s a lot of strength to this release. The build up and drop to the hook is particularly satisfying, and James’ smooth yet raspy and distant vocal carries the weight of it with swagger and ease.
While the whole thing is undoubtedly radio-ready – anthem like and easy to imagine appearing across the airwaves – there’s also a strong live aura to the recording. You can picture that live show, that real-time performance, complete with the full-band set-up and a genuine chance to witness the artist lost in the energy of the song, and this adds a whole other level of appeal. Hopefully there’s plenty more to come.
